St. Nicholas Church is a stewardship parish.
Christian stewardship is the response we make to God in gratitude for whom is he and what he has done for us as creator and redeemer. We regard our lives, our power and possessions as gifts from God to be enjoyed and used in his service to meet the needs of others. We aim to be stewards of the Gospel and to share in Christ’s mission to the world.

Our TRIO campaign in 2008 highlighted how every parish church must now pay for its own costs without help from the Church of England centrally.

Our running costs are about £3,500 per week. This includes the stipend and pension costs of our clergy, running the parish office, maintaining the church and churchyard (always expensive with an historic building) and a contribution to the Diocese of Rochester towards the costs of training clergy and lay ministers.

We have some investment and endowment income, and income from fees, but most of our income is given by church members through their stewardship.

Contributions to church costs are confidential and known only to the Stewardship Recorder and the Gift Aid Secretary.

"You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God."
